ABOUT US
The Berkshire Guild of Spinners, Weavers and Dyers is an enthusiastic group of approximately 60 members, ranging from beginners through to experienced. The aims of the Berkshire Guild of Spinners, Weavers and Dyers are:
  • to encourage and maintain integrity and excellence of craftsmanship
  • to foster a sense of beauty of texture, colour and design
  • to provide opportunities for the exchange of information, and for demonstration and lectures

  • The Guild meets on the third Saturday of the month in Pearson Hall, Pearson Road, Sonning. for talks and demonstrations often given by professional craft workers.
    Members are encouraged to show their work. There is an extensive library of craft related literature and a range of equipment for hire. Courses, visits and workshops are also arranged on a variety of topics such as braid making, horsehair weaving and felting.
    There is also a practical session held on the first Monday evening of each month at Wokingham Methodist Church, Rose Street, Wokingham RG40 1XS from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm. The Berkshire Guild is affiliated to the Association of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers which organises conferences, summer schools and national exhibitions, and publishes the Journal of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers, a quarterly production devoted to the three crafts.

    Guild membership and attendance fees are currently as follows:
  • Annual membership is £14.
  • Half day meeting fee is £2 per member.
  • Full day meeting fee is £4 per member.
  • Evening meeting fee is £2 per member.
  • Visitors are asked to pay £4 whether they come to a full day, half day meeting or evening meeting.
  • Members workshops fee is £20 per day and the majority of these events are one days duration
